Franchise

Avalon Music Academy is offered as a franchise. This is an opportunity for you to share in the successes that we have experienced.

In 1999, preparation for a new music school began, and in September, 2000, the first Avalon Music Academy opened its doors in Dundas, Ontario. In the first week of classes, there were three teachers and eight students. Presently, there are 45 teachers and almost 800 students.

The school has eight locations in Ontario: one corporate (Dundas), seven franchises (Toronto, Ancaster, Woodstock, Brantford North, Brantford South, Stoney Creek, Paris). Three more Ontario locations are opening this September.

Financial Forecast
Please contact us if you are interested in discussing the financial aspect of owning a music school franchise.

Profits from instrument rentals, as well as book, accessory and instrument sales are not included in the financial forecast. These profits act as bonuses; there are no royalties incurred.

As a franchisee, you will receive:

1. Software
Avalon Music School Manager® Ver. 2.0 facilitates all aspects of running a music school, including scheduling lessons (and cancelled, missed, make-up, temporary or rescheduled lessons), complex integrated student database, teacher database, teacher payroll, accounts receivables, instrument rentals and sales. The software can print, sort or export lists of students as per user search criteria (day and time, instrument, location, “found us via”, etc.). The software is specifically tailored to the needs of an Avalon Music Academy franchise, and recognizes multiple locations.

2. Website
The global site is www.avalonmusic.ca. Most of the site will be common to every franchise, and can be used by everyone. However, each franchise will have a section specific to his or her school (i.e. instruments taught, teacher bios, contact info, etc).

3. Supplies to Sell or Rent
Where required, we can furnish you with music books, instruments and accessories at a discount. If you own or are affiliated with a musical instrument retailer, you may not have need for this except in the case of Avalon Method books (for guitar, etc).

4. Operations Manual
As a franchisee, you will receive the 200-page Instruction Manual covering all aspects of opening and running your music school. To view the Manual's Table of Contents, click here.

5. Required Documents
All documentation, forms and contracts will be supplied to you in hard-copy and on disk. You will be able to manipulate and duplicate these as required.

6. Advertising Materials
You will be supplied with samples of all advertising and promotional materials as well as a radio commercial that we currently employ. These can be duplicated (by you) as you see fit. In time, as the franchise grows, we will supply all advertising and promotional materials.

7. Telephone Speech
You will receive a 20-page document in which can be found the answers to ANY question a new inquiring customer may have. This document can be used by you or any admin people you hire. It acts as a guide and a reference book for “reeling in” customers who are calling around to several schools. This booklet holds the secrets to convince customers why they should choose Avalon Music Academy over any other schools they may have called or are intending to call.

8. Unlimited Telephone or Email Support
Though our Operations Manual theoretically covers everything you will need to know, we are accessible to help or answer any questions you may have throughout your duration as a franchisee.

9. Accounting Assistance
You will receive advice and assistance for any issues surrounding payroll, receivables, taxes, checking and credit card accounts, overdue accounts and bad checks.

10. Suggestions to Build and Expand a Thriving Business
We will include a great deal of information on how to capitalize on the many offshoots surrounding a music school (selling and renting musical instruments, selling books and accessories, sending teachers out to gigs, group classes, master classes, concerts, recording). These are to make use of the fact that music schools’ prime time is restricted to not more than 40 weeks a year, and only six hours a day.

COSTS AND FEES
Please contact us if to discuss the start-up costs and the franchise royalties for music lessons and group classes.

ON TIMING
For a new music school, we strongly recommend that you look at opening in September or January, as these are the two busiest times for student registration. Of course, the Avalon Music System can also be used to expand an existing school.

REASONS TO BUY A FRANCHISE:

  • Avalon Music Academy has a proven operating system
  • There is a large amount of security and comfort in operating under the wing of a franchise
  • There is a much higher success rate than if you were to attempt to open a business on your own
